YWAM South Central Africa Area Conference

If you would like to attend this conference, please fill in your details in the registration form under the “YWAM South Central Africa Area Conference” tab.

The individuals form is for individual or family bookings only and the group registration applies to group registrations only. Group registration is where the team leader fills the form and register the rest of the team.

For planning and logistical purposes, (though it may not be as accurate) we would want to know or have an estimate number of people attending.

Conference Costs

Conference Fee: US$15. 00 for the whole conference per person. This is compulsory to everyone attending the conference. This money will go towards all conference logistics such as communication, tent hire, printing and transport etc.

Accommodation fees: Costs depends on where you are staying. Compulsory if you wish to stay on the base or in any of the lodges around.

Meal fees: US$6. 00 p/p per day. This is fixed and compulsory to everyone having meals on the base. Includes 3 meals a day, Mid-morning tea break and a afternoon tea break.

Accommodation Options: 

Option 1: YWAM Lusaka Base accommodation.

a. Camping with own tent: US$3. 00 p/p per day – Meals: US$6. 00 p/p per day. 

  • Accommodation and meals from 18-23 is: US$54. 00.
  • Camping accommodation plus meals and conference fee: US$69. 00 for the whole conference.

b. Camping with Base tent: Not yet available.

c. Dormitory (Only available for guys) – for singles sharing: US$5 p/p per day – Meals: US$6. 00 p/p per day. 

  • Dormitory accommodation and meals from 18-23 is: US$71. 00.
  • Base accommodation plus meals and conference fee: US$81. 00 for the whole conference.

c. Room sharing: US$8 p/p per day – Meals: US$6. 00 p/p per day. 

  • shared room and meals from 18-23 is: US$84. 00.
  • Shared room accommodation plus meals and conference fee: US$99. 00 for the whole conference.

Please note that base accommodation is very limited and will be on first come basis. Book early to secure your stay.

IMPORTANT: If you wish to stay longer than 6days (18-23), please communicate your plans. You will be expected to pay and cover your costs for each extra day outside the scheduled conference dates. 

Accommodation Option 2: Tasheni Apartments – Located 1.2Kms from the base. 7mins drive and walkable distance from the base. Can accommodate a total of 56 adults.

a. Four 2 bedroom units. Each unit has:

  • Lounge room.
  • 1 Bathroom with shower & toilet.
  • 1 bunk room with 5 bunks, accommodates 10 singles – 1 private room for couples / families, 1 double bed (Bathroom is shared with the singles in the unit. Families can sleep children on a mattress on the floor. Linen provided for the double bed).

b. One bunk roomThe bunk room has:

  • 2 bunk beds, accommodates 4 singles.
  • Bathroom, toilet & shower available next to the room.

c. Two En-suite units for couples / families. Each suite has:

  • Open plan lounge area with double bed.
  • Private bathroom with shower & toilet.
  • Linen is provided for the double bed.
  • Families can sleep children on a mattress on the floor.

Accommodation Prices:
– Bunk room $15 per person/night – Private couples/family room $30 per room/day
– En-suite couples/family unit $40 per room/night

Linen is provided for the double beds. Bunk beds need to bring own linen.

Breakdown for Tasheni Apartments:

a. Bunk room: 

Accommodation: US$15 p/p per day, meals: US$6 p/p per day. 
Bunk room accommodation and meals: US$126. 00
Bunk room accommodation, meals and conference fee: US$ 141. 00

b. Private Couples / family room:

  • Accommodation: US$30 p/p per room/day, meals: US$6. p/p per day.
  • Private couples/family room and meals: US$216. 00
  • Private couples/family unit, meals and conference fee: US$231. 00

c. En-suite couples / family unit:

  • Accommodation: US$40 p/p per room/day, meals: US$6. p/p per day.
  • En-suite couples/family unit and meals: US$266. 00
  • En-suite couples/family unit, meals and conference fee: US$281. 00

Option 3. Kumwaka Lodge – 6.1Km from the base, easily accessible.

a. 11 Self contained rooms: Double bed with a sitting area and a small fridge. Ideal for a couple or singles willing to share. Cost: K300. (This is charged in local currency and may depends on the exchange rate on the day of payment).

  • Accommodation, meals and conference fee for this: $147. 00
  • Transport to and from the base: US$12 – $20 for the whole conference time.
  • Here, 2 people can choose to share a room at the same cost per room per day.

b. 10 Self contained rooms: Double bed with a bigger sitting area and a small fridge. Ideal for a couple, small family or 2 singles willing to share. Cost: K390. (This is charged in local currency and may depends on the exchange rate on the day of payment).

  • Accommodation, meals and conference fee for this: $171. 00
  • Transport to and from the base: US$12 – $20 per person for the whole conference time.
  • Here, 2 people can choose to share a room at the same cost per room per day.

c. 6 Self contained rooms: Double bed with a small sitting area and a small fridge. Ideal for a couple or 2 singles willing to share. Cost: K300. (This is charged in local currency and may depends on the exchange rate on the day of payment).

  • Accommodation, meals and conference fee for this: $135. 00
  • Transport to and from the base: US$12 – $20 per person for the whole conference time.
  • Here, 2 people can choose to share a room at the same cost per room per day.

Option 4: Laughing water 2.3Kms from the base. 

Family houses 4 houses, 2 bedrooms each with 2 bedrooms – Priority given to bigger families.

  • Accommodation costs: K500 / US$28 per day for the whole house.
  • Booking for this to be confirmed. 

Option 5: Mungwi Park Gardens: 6.6km from the base.

How do we get from and to the airport?

Group airport transport can be arranged depending on the number of people travelling. There is also a cheaper option for a taxi from the airport to the venue as well as moving around town. You can download Yango app from your smartphone to access the taxi services.

What Will The Weather Be Like?

This month is known as a warm month. The average maximum daytime temperature in Lusaka in August lies at 27.8°C (82.04°F). The average minimum temperature goes down to around 12.1°C (53.78°F) (often the minimum temperature is noted at night).

Do we need to bring mosquito spray?

Yes. It will be a warm/hot time of the year so sunscreen is also recommended.

Yellow Fever Vaccinations:

COVID-19:

Malaria Tablets? 

Lusaka is a low-risk area to contract malaria. 

 Food and Water

Zambian food is high in carbohydrates and includes Nshima, rice, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes. During the conference, food is served buffet style and all piled on one plate. Daily breakfast is often bread and tea. At the base, we have two boreholes, it is safe to drink water directly from the tape. 

If for some reasons you prefer bottled water, you can buy this locally. 

Base and accommodation

Need to bring sleeping bags or something else etc?

Yes, please bring sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and/or bed sheets and your own mosquito net. Please also bring a towel for bathing as well as your toiletries. 

Kids Program:

We are looking into having a kids program, this may also depend on the number of kids coming and age groups. If you are planning to bring your kids, please communicate in advance.

If I Want To Stay Longer Or Come A Day Earlier, Can I Do That? 

Yes, but please notify us in advance. 

General Safety:

Lusaka is generally safe. It is safe to move around during the day.

Dress Code:

Women: Tops should cover stomach/back. Knee-Length dresses, shorts, skirts. Long trousers are suggested for evenings (to avoid mosquitoes). 

Men: Knee-length shorts. Vests are to be worn only in leisure/sports.

Bring a jacket for cooler weather in the morning or evenings.

Money and Banking:

In Zambia, it is possible to withdraw money using a visa, MasterCard, maestro or union pay.
